Album Reviews :: MyndSnare: A PRELIMINARY QUEST [INDEPENDENT]

By The Ironman

MyndSnare has been at the forefront of the Indian death metal scene for quite a while now. As with all other bands that achieve a certain level of popularity, they have been plagued by the odd line up change, ego clashes, etc., but what has remained intact is their music. This EP has been a much-awaited one, and will no doubt have fans begging for more of this very talented three-piece outfit.

Although “The Mirror of Nothingness”, which is the first of the three songs on this EP, is the most popular of all the Myndsnare songs (and for good reason), I’d say my favourite song is the last one, “Seeking the Maze” (I just can’t get enough of that song!!). “Layers Of Hypocrisy” is quite impressive as well. The EP is characterised by striking guitar work / vocals from KP, brilliant drumming by Yasmin, and some very competent bass playing, courtesy Narayan. There are some hints of Fate, and a few nods to Arch Enemy and Death in the songs on this EP. This CD has become an inseparable part of my daily routine now, and I have to listen to it at least five times a day.

I am somewhat upset by the fact that there are only three songs on this EP. A band this good can’t be allowed to release only three songs! I want a full length album! On a serious note, yeah, the length of this EP is its biggest flaw. But all said and done, the final verdict is: this CD rocks more than a teenage chimpanzee on acid! Go get your copy now.
