Album Reviews :: Them Clones: THEM CLONES EP [INDEPENDENT]

By Ashwin Dutt

A pleasant escape from the routine Delhi sound, it seems as if all the Delhi bands are stuck up in a time capsule. Them Clones surely bag the first spot in the bunny race. Produced by Arjun Sen and Them Clones, the recording is all credits to Sound Advice Studios. Ex-vocalist, Ravi, has really done a splendid job. While rhythm guitarist Gucci and ex-guitarist Abeer have set the perfect tones for this self-titled EP, bassist Romit and drummer Dev compliment each other with a calm and near friendly drum-n-bass combination.

Stacked with five tracks, this EP personifies the mellow side of grey. “In The Name Of God” is your typical radio friendly track, while “Zupertrip” being my personal favourite is worth watching / hearing live. The second track “Black, White and Grey” features Ashish David on vocals. The exiting line up of vocalist Ravi and guitarist Abeer has not hampered the band in any way. In fact new vocalist Prithwish and guitarist Joseph play a decent, impressive and impactful role in live shows, although guitarist Joseph needs some “stage act” lessons or at least a pogo stick. I would say that the only disappointment in the album is the bad mix and low production value.
