Album Reviews :: Metakix: HEADLINES [THROATLATCH RECORDS / SONY MUSIC]

By The Ironman

Hmmm… this album is one that’s likely to change the face of the Indian rock scene for a long time to come. For the first time, a band has actually come out with a quality album, and also worked hard on marketing it. The production on this album may not exactly be world class… but it’s a start. This may not compare to Indus Creed’s album in terms of recording (they did it in L.A.), but it sure does in terms of the impact it has on the rock scene in India.

Most of the solos on the album are raga-oriented… but they are well blended in with what are essentially ‘metal’ songs. As far as rating the album on a scale of 1 to 10 goes… if Pantera’s ‘Cowboys From Hell’ is a 10/10 effort, then I rate this album as 7/10. But by Indian standards… this album stands at 8/10. The standout songs in this album are the catchy “She’s the Incubus”, alongwith the instrumental “Small Town Aggression”, and the popular “H.i.g.h”. Can’t wait for their next album!
